Silicone rubber heaters are manufactured from high grade silicone rubber materials that provide increased flexibility and unparalleled performance. Although most silicone heaters are manufactured in a flat flexible heater shape, Durex regularly manufactures silicone rubber heaters in a variety of formed shapes. Forming can provide superior heat transfer, and ease of installation by the customer.

Silicone Rubber Heater Construction

Silicone heaters are essentially a vulcanized construction of a low profile etched foil or wire wound resistance element sandwiched between two layers of fiberglass reinforced (or unreinforced) silicone rubber of various thicknesses and constructions.

 

Silicone Heating Element Design Features

Silicone rubber heating elements are designed to be a versatile, lightweight, high efficiency alternative to rigid metallic heaters in heating any surface quickly and efficiently.  They are applied in a variety of methods depending on equipment requirements.  They can be clamped between 2 metal plates, with or without backside insulation, attached to metal surfaces using Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA), vacuum bonding (vulcanizating) to metal parts for form heated parts, or installed and held in place mechanically with straps, springs or other closure types. Typical design features include:

Ozone, weather, and chemical resistant

Flame retardant and non-toxic

Low outgassing with no sulfur or nitrogen to create hazardous compounds that are prevalent in organic rubbers

Silicone Heater Assemblies

Silicone heaters can be supplied as a sub-assembly or an integrated, heated part assembly.  Along with vulcanization to metal parts, LAIYUAN Co., can add temperature sensors such as thermistors, RTDs and thermocouples.  Thermal cut outs and resettable fuses can also be designed to lend an added layer of protection.  Control can be provided through fixed of adjustable thermostats for applications requiring less precise heating and control.  Connectors and adaptors can be attached to power leads and sensor leadwire to provide easy installation into OEM equipment as well.
