About Immersion Heaters

Home    更新    About Immersion Heaters

An immersion heater is a device installed in a tank or container to heat liquid. Installation can be side mounting, flange connection or threaded connection. The purchase price of immersion heaters is relatively low, and with a variety of physical configurations, materials and temperature ranges, they can be used in a variety of applications.

How does an immersion heater work?

The immersion heater is made by wrapping the resistance heating wire in a ceramic sheath and then enclosing it with the sheath. The sheath can be made of copper, steel, stainless steel, cast iron, inconel, titanium or PFA. When current flows through the heating element, the heat passes through the ceramic sheath and the sheath at a high speed. The heat from the sheath quickly heats the water or liquid around the sheath.

What is the working temperature of the immersion heater?

Immersion heaters can be used in many temperature ranges. The temperature that the immersion heater can output depends on the power supply voltage and resistance (watt = voltage 2 / resistance). Industrial heaters can usually heat water to approximately 900°F (482°C) internally. Regardless of the environment or application, the heat output will remain constant because the resistance measurement of the heater is also constant.

What is the purpose of immersion heaters?

Each type of immersion heater is suitable for different types of applications. Water, oil, solvents, electroplating solutions, salts, and acids are some of the many liquids and viscous materials that are usually heated by immersion heaters.

The following are the most common applications of different types of immersion heaters:

Side-horizontal immersion heaters are most suitable for important work areas and portability (such as easy to disassemble to clean water tanks and heaters) applications.

Flange immersion heaters are an excellent heater choice for all storage tanks, vats, or irregularly shaped containers, because of the power density, heating output, and flange size and rating of these heaters.

Screw plug immersion heaters are ideal for process water heating and antifreeze. Using these compact and easy-to-control devices, it is also possible to heat all types of oil and heat transfer solutions. The direct immersion method is energy efficient and highly suitable for many applications.
