Choose the right flanged immersion heater

Home    更新    Choose the right flanged immersion heater

1- Determine the safe and effective element power density

Elemental watt density is the number of watts dissipated per square inch of elemental sheath surface.

For specific applications, the watt density of the component will control the temperature of the component's sheath. The factors to consider when choosing the right power density are:

①Many materials are sensitive to heat. If the operating temperature of the components is too high, they will decompose or be damaged.

②The power density of air and other gases with poor heat conduction must match the airflow velocity to prevent the elements from overheating

③When heating hard water and cleaning solution, minerals will accumulate on the element sheath, which acts as heat insulation and increases the temperature of the internal elements. If these deposits cannot be removed regularly, use lower power density components to increase the heater's life expectancy.

2- Determine the required flange pressure and temperature rating

3- select element sheath material

Surface treatment of stainless steel and Incoloy® elements and other wetted parts to improve corrosion resistance

The surface of the flange immersion heater in contact with the heated material can be passivated or electropolished to improve its corrosion resistance.

Passivation can remove surface contamination that is usually iron, thereby maintaining the best corrosion resistance of stainless steel. Surface contamination will come from a small amount of steel that may be worn away from the tool during the manufacturing process. Passivation is accomplished by immersing the heater in a warm nitric acid solution.

4- Choose optional flange and gasket materials

Optional flange materials include:

304, 304L stainless steel

316L stainless steel

Incoloy®800

5- select junction box

The explosion-proof terminal enclosure is only used for explosions in the enclosed enclosure. This NEMA rating does not cover any part of the heater assembly outside the enclosure. The abnormal use of the heater will cause the temperature to be too high, which may lead to dangerous situations such as fire. Never perform any type of maintenance or remove the housing cover before disconnecting all power to the heater.
